Moet & Painfully Trendy Bars

After a few hours of down time after our arrival, it was time for Sinead and myself to pull out our curlers, put on our dancing shoes and venture out into the buzzing streets of a warm Saturday night in New York City.

We started the night off at a cute little Indian Restaurant named Milon for some scumpilicious food and champagne. Milon was a terribly cute place that had colourful fairy lights and flowers that covered the entire surfaces, which made it feel like eating in a circus tent.

After din dins we walked on to a little bar called Ear Inn for some sour apple cocktails, before ending the night at the infamous Don Hills on Greenwich Street for some late night dancing.

Bright Eyes In The Flesh

After a never ending bus ride through the night and some really freaky dreams, I find myself back in Toronto and my wonderful trip to New York at an end- Sigh. And what an amazing trip it was! New York City never ceases to amaze me, it is almost like 100 towns rolled into one wonderfully, fantastic giant city where there is never a shortage on things to do. I could definitely see myself living there one day, if the fates allow.

But now lets talk about the main reason that brought me back to this surreal city of dreams in the first place- Seeing Bright Eyes play at Radio City Music Hall. I remember being in Drama class one sunny day back when I was in Highschool and a friend of mine had the album I'm Wide Awake It's Morning in his CD Walkmen and played me the song First Day Of My Life- After falling in love with that simple but beautiful song, thus began my love affair with Bright Eyes.

I have seen Conor Oberst perform twice in the past, once with Monsters of Folk and once with Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band- both of these shows were wonderful, but no where near amazing as actually seeing Conor perform as Bright Eyes at such an iconic venue as Radio City Music Hall. Listening to him belt out these heart wenching songs that remind me of so many memories throughout my life was close to surreal, like walking in a field of magical day dreams- when he started singing Poison Oak, I was sure I was going to die right then and there.

Finally seeing Bright Eyes, another thing to cross off my bucket list!

Arriving In New York

After a mostly pleasant enough bus ride through the night, Sinead and Myself arrived in the Big City at about 8am this morning. We checked into our lovely lodgings in Alphabet City, quickly freshened up and spent the day exploring Soho. But now I must nap so I can regain my energy for a big night of painting the town red- Cheerio for now!

Start Spreading The News

This time tomorrow I shall be in New York City! The Big Apple, The Mighty Manhattan, The City that Never Sleeps-Okay I'll stop with the nicknames for now. I am so excited though, it feels like a while since I've taken a little trip like this and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it come rain or shine!

See you all in New York!

Surrendering To Scents

I am a sucker for perfumes- I love the bottles, I love the commercials (Audrey Tautou in the Chanel one was sooo divine!) and I love how different scents can make you feel a certain way and improve an outfit. I'm constantly on the look out for wonderful new perfumes and one day I shall have an entire room in my house that will be a sort of library of scents- or at least a bookshelf of scents (-:

Anywho here's the three perfumes that I am wearing at the moment...

I came across Vizzari when I was waiting for a plane at Dubai Airport, I had been in a Duty Free Store for close to 20 minutes trying to sniff out a nice perfume, to the point where all the scents had kind of morphed into just one and so I was going by the appearance of the bottles. It's a classic scent that lingers and gets a lot of people telling me I smell good.

I was given Parisienne from my beautiful sister Jessica when I returned home for this Christmas just past. At first I thought maybe it was a bit too sweet for me, but now I've definitely warmed to it and it's candy type scent. Sweet Sweet Candy.

Wood Dsquared is the latest addition to my small but pleasant collection of scents, I actually read about it on a blog some time ago and was intrigued. Like the name might suggest, Dsquared has a soft floral scent with an almost woody tinge to it. Very nice.

Cold Mornings Wrapped In Sheets

She: In my dreams last night there was blood, I was bleeding, leaving a trail of blood behind me wherever I would walk and people around me looked scared and disgusted by me, like this bleeding some how upset their lives more then it did my own

Him: Where were you bleeding?

She: It was coming from under my skirt; thick clean lines of blood covered my legs entirely

Him: So maybe it wa-

She: It wasn’t that, it was coming from somewhere else, like I was slowly emptying from the inside, being drained, but I wasn’t scared about it and when I woke up I thought I could feel it, the blood that is, I swear I could feel it soaking the sheets, but it was just my head playing tricks on me, I was fine

Him: What did you do then?

She: I fell back to sleep and had no more dreams of blood

New York Bound

Only four days until I board the bus that is going to take me to the world famous, always sparkling, wonderful city of New York, New York for five exciting days & nights! Plus after watching copious amounts of Boardwalk Empire, we have decided that a day trip to Atlantic City is in order- which I hear is like a smaller version of Las Vegas.

This will actually be my second time visiting The Big Apple, but since the majority of the first trip was spent with me in a comatose state of excitement and awe, I'm hoping to actually get a better feel of the city this time and drink it all in. Plus I am of course going to be seeing one of my all time favourite living bands, the darling Bright Eyes at Radio City Music Hall.

Let the countdown commence...
