Oh What A World

Sometimes I get caught up in this feeling of thinking I’ll never measure up to anything much in my life. It is not that I am self-loathing and hate my life or anything, on the contrary over the last few years I have come to really appreciate everything that I do have and all the small occurrences and musings that make my life so wonderful.

But I am still plagued by thoughts that make me think my all consuming imagination and dreams that I hold for myself are nothing more then a fairytale that I could just never achieve in this life- whether it be to obvious hindrances like lack of intelligence or money, or something more like the ever present fear of rejection and failure, or even that maybe at the end of the day that what I dream of doing is unattainable because I’m just not good enough and other people that too held the same dreams so dear well they just are good enough to make them work.

And I always hear people say positive affirmations like ‘follow your dreams’ or ‘the world is your oyster, you can do whatever you put your mind to’ and I can’t help but think that maybe that is all a crock, nothing but bullshit that we are spoon feed by people who think that believing in these things will actually make them true. Which unfortunately it is just not the way the world works.

I look at peoples lives all around me and I wonder if they have followed their dreams and actually achieved what they wanted to or if they just decided on settling for something less because they just could not keep going on a hope. I look at myself and wonder if after the unbridled hopes, plans and dreams of my youth fade, am I destined to just fall into the assembly lines of mediocrity and settle for whatever keeps food in my belly and a roof over my head?

Is that the way it all works?

Our Own Private Idaho

As I recently sat staring enviously at my neighbours balconies and thinking of all the nice summer time moments they would soon be having on them, I was struck with a stroke of genius and figured that the rooftop outside my bedroom window would make a perfect balcony substitute.

And so last night before heading to the Cameron House on Queen Street to watch our friend Beth Moore belt out a few tunes, it was the roof tops that myself and Sinead retreated to to enjoy the sunset and shoot the breeze.

We got to see how birds see everything for a while

Then it was time to crawl back through the window and head to the Cameron House

Where we met up with a recently hair cropped Bryan who was feeling camera shy

And enjoy the musical musings of Beth Moore

And so was my Thursday Night

Smells Like Teen Spirit

Happy Thursday Morning Folks! Oh how lovely it is to wake up to the bright sunshine streaming through my window, as opposed to grey clouds and rain- definitely makes it easier to start the day and spring out of bed with a smile.

Firstly I just wanted to say a massive thank you for everybody's terribly lovely comments on the Laundry Days photo shoot that I recently posted, they made me and Sinead so happy to read them- What can I say, we are suckers for flattery!

Secondly, on a recent mass scale delete through my email account I came across the funniest photo that one of my friends from Perth made a few years ago. It was originally suppose to be the design for a shirt we were making for our friend's going away party at the time, but the shirt never manifested and instead we just put it in a card instead.

Looking at it reminds me of being nineteen and spending the weekends at Amplifier Bar in Perth, our head's swirling with various chemicals and dancing like possessed cats until the sun came up- Ahhh to be nineteen again.

Does anybody else have some lovely teenage memories they would like to share and keep me amused with? Eh eh?

Laundry Days

Last night during our weekly trip to the laundromat, myself and my room mate Sinead thought it might be fun to do a laundry themed photoshoot whilst we waited for our cloths.

Besides from the bemused faces of the laundromats other patrons, the shoot actually turned out to be a lot more fun then we expected and we are already thinking up ideas for future photography projects!

Anyhow here are some of the photo's for your viewing pleasure- I would love to know what you all think? The good, the bad and the ugly...

A Change In The Air

Don't you just love those weekends where you have absolutely nothing planned and then by way of chance you end up having an even better time then you probably would have if you had planned a whole lot of things to occupy yourself with?

This is what my Saturday night turned out to be like after meeting up with an old work colleague for what was going to be a casual drink with some friends- but instead was full of dancing, climbing fences and even some late night karaoke!

Of course being me, I left my camera at home and so instead you get to see the somewhat less interesting R & R recovery operation that took place last night at the Blue Bird Inn.

How nice would it be to work at an establishment where you have your own sticker.

Scissorhands 20th

Happy Sunday Folks, I hope everybody is doing something delightful with the ending of the weekend- I'm in the midst of a lovely day of some serious rest and relaxation, but just wanted to quickly tell you all about this wonderful project I read about recently!

So like a lot of people out there, I am a massive fan of Tim Burton's masterpiece Edward Scissorhands. I grew up with this timeless tale of love and beauty, and it had been one of my favourite films since I was a wee bonny lass- from which also springs my life long crush on the painfully handsome Johnny Depp *drool*.

So you can imagine how happy I was to read about this recent project organised by Seb Mesnard, an illustrator based in France, who in honour of the films 20th anniversary, asked some of his artist friends to contribute their interpretations of the film to a tribute blog called Scissorhands 20th.

Make sure you check it out! It is truly very magnificent!

Blogs Coming Out Of My Ears

Besides from actually writing my own blog, one of my favourite things to do on the world wide web is to read through countless amounts of amazing blogs about everything and anything!

Although it is relatively easy enough to start a blog, it is a lot harder to write a good blog that keeps people coming back because it is really quite special for one reason or another- whether it be amazing photography, wonderful words or something you can’t quite put your finger on but know that you like.

So in saying that, here are three swell blogs that I am keeping myself entertained with at the moment:

If looks could kill then Louise Ebel of the Miss Pandora blog would surely be a mass murderer (Argh that sounded a lot cheesier writing it then it did in my head). She is a model and the daughter of Sylvie Ebel- the director for the French Institute of Fashion. Her blog is completely adorable and completely addictive.

Here's Lookin At Me Kid is a smashing blog that is composed by the darling Amanda Johnson from Ohio. It is a somewhat creative scrapbook of Amanda’s whimsical life as she talks about all the things that inspire her and make her life so lovely- from fashion to food and whole bunch more. Very nice!

Romantic, Dreamy and Picaresque are all words I would use when describing the very lovely Paris In Pink. The blog follows the sweet Camille, a French-American, through her adventures of living life in the magical city of lights and love.
