The Awesome Foursome

When I first decided that I was going to move to Canada a part of me wondered if I was going to be able to make it for longer then a few months before I caved and for one reason or another would go back to Australia.

Although living abroad has not been without its moments of me wanting to go home, for the most part I have found it easier then I thought I would, which I accredit mostly to the fact that I moved here with some of the most wonderful people I know- My beautiful twin sister Emmily, the cynical but hilarious Neil and of course one of my oldest amigos, the lovely Sinead who I now live in Toronto with.

Even though in large parts we were all so different, something about us as a group just worked so nicely and it made being away from home all the more easier. Not to say things in our household were always smooth sailing, looking back though some of the things we would argue about were so ridiculous that it makes it even funnier when I think back to it now.

I'm usually dripping with pangs of nostagia in some form most of the time when I have too much time to ponder, but damn do I miss those days sometimes... Oh and for the record we never called ourselves the awesome foursome and I imagine that they are all going to cringe when they read that title- especially Neil (-:

Au Revoir Sweet Canada

So I have been in a state of a kind of floating the past few weeks, which I accredit to the fact that I know a change is coming. You would think that after two years of packing up my suitcase and moving on pretty frequently, that I would be used to it all by now- but not really, I just have a better idea of what to expect from it all.

And so with the dawning of my last month in Canada starting, so also does the process of preparing to close another chapter of my life and begin another- For this time next month I shall be leaving Toronto and heading to Auckland, New Zealand to stay with my dear sister Emmily for a little while.

I still find it hard to wrap my head around the fact that it has been close to two years since I set out from my home and came to live in Vancouver, really on a whim. I have seen so many places and met so many people in that time that I feel like my head could explode remembering it all- and this is only the beginning! But I think it is time for me to head back to Australia soon and start some study, probably in Melbourne.

Now only if I could make a proper decision on what I should be studying! How lovely would it be to study abroad, oh to dream!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

A couple of weeks ago a nice chap from my work gave me some tickets to go and watch my very first baseball game- Toronto Blue Jays verses Boston Red Sox.

I’m not really one for watching team sports, but growing up watching movies like A League Of Their Own and The Sandlot Kids, I’ve always thought baseball seemed pretty swell- a great American pastime!

I probably enjoyed the actual atmosphere of the stadium and the buzz of the crowd more then the actual game itself, but it was still a lot of fun! I stupidly forgot my camera's memory card though and so here are some delightful photo's that my lovely friend Sinead snapped on her Pentax on the day. Ain't they nice? Check out more of Sinead's photographs Here.

Trash & Treasure

So it seems I have been taking a small hiatus where my dear old bloggy is concerned as of late, I've just been so pre-occupied with planning my next step- which I will be sure to share with you all soon! But being brief, it seems my time in Canada is almost at an end and in a few short weeks it is time for me to pack my suitcase and move on again. Where does the time go?

Anyway enough about that for now. I wanted to show you all this wonderful little painting print that I acquired yesterday from a neighbours spring cleaning pile down the street from my house. I love that time of year when everybody piles their no longer beloved items out the front to be swept away by the garbage man- because like they say one man's trash is another man's treasure!

After some further research the name of the poster is Maurin Quina and it was painted by Leonetto Cappiello in 1906 as an advertisement for a type of liqueur that is no longer in production. Isn't it lovely, a little sinister but in the nicest possible way! What do you think?

Sangria & Fireworks

In celebration of the Victoria Day long weekend, this Sunday just past my housemates and I decided to make mass amounts of fresh Sangria and purchase some fireworks to let of at Christie Pits Park in the evening- because nothing could go wrong with that combination.

I still can't believe that in Canada you can just walk down to your local corner store and buy fireworks- madness, pure madness! It was a lot of fun, but unfortunately I accidentally left my camera at home in the evening, so no firework photo's for you all- dang!

Lazy Saturday's Are Best Spent In The Sun

After an extra long weekend I find myself back at work, oh but what a pleasantly nice weekend it was! I'm not sure what it is but I always feel terribly out of whack after long weekends, like my body clock has been rattled and it leaves me with a weird feeling of being 'out of it' for a few days.

But enough about that, I thought we should see how I spent this very sunny Saturday just past, the way every Saturday should be spent- with a picnic in the sunshine, great company and delectable food. Fun Fun Fun!

Sinead, Bryan, Liam, Sam and me decided it was indeed perfect weather for a picnic...

So we headed to High Park with an abundance of food and drinks

We sat and spoke about music, old times and the perils of being a policeman

Before packing up our stuff and continuing on our journey to the cherry blossoms

We met the cutest little blue eyed puppy on the way

We strolled through the small zoo in the centre of the park
Before deciding we were drained from the sunshine and headed home

Thus was my Saturday (-:
