A Day On The Boardwalk

Ah how quickly things change- One Monday your spending the day basking in the sunshine exploring Atlantic City and the next your back at work thinking back to the previous Monday when you were basking in the sunshine exploring Atlantic City, Sigh…

In case you haven’t put two and two together, last week whilst Sinead and Myself were visiting New York we decided that after weeks of becoming obsessed with the series Boardwalk Empire, that we would take a short trip to Atlantic City for a day of gambling and debauchery (of the most innocent kind of course).

Atlantic City, although a lot more scaled down, has all the charm and delightful tackiness of a casino town like Las Vegas. Except instead of being in the middle of a Desert it stretches along the coast with a boardwalk that makes you feel like you are in an old 1930’s film when you walk down it.

However cheesy they may be sometimes, something about the novelty of themed bars, restaurants, clubs, etc totally appeals to me. So with this in mind we opted to eat at a jungle style restaurant called Rainforest CafĂ©, which was decked out with trees and vines covering every surface and an automated ‘thunderstorm’ every 20 minutes in which lightning would strike and the animals would go ballistic around us- very cool.

After hours of gambling and losing, drinking in abundance, exploring the city's secrets and all around fun times, our day on the boardwalk came to an end and it was time to catch the bus back to the big city.
