A Woman With A Curse On Her Lips

Something quite eerie happened to me on the weekend just passed and now I shall share it with you good folks. A friend and myself were walking down Bloor Street and noticed a small woman in the distance who seemed to be screaming to herself. Not really that phased by this we continued walking down the street, after all big cities usually also mean a lot more people who’s mask of sanity has started to slip and so witnessing a lonesome stranger screaming to themselves although a little sad is not exactly an uncommon occurrence.

Still human curiosity always prevails and both of us were still quite transfixed by this woman’s seemingly uncalled for outburst. Anyway now comes the somewhat creepy part, as we passed by this crooked little woman she stopped and looked right at us, both her eyes looked like they had a thin white layer of film over them, which added to the general overall sinister appearance of her. Anyway as she stared at us she whispered something under her breath and then brought her hand to her eyes, quickly waving her fingers from eye to eye in an almost mechanical fashion, before she started screaming once again and me and my friend shuffled away.

Now perhaps I have seen way to many scary films, read way to many horror books and been told way to many ghost stories- but something about this experience was quite unnerving, it sounds crazy but I think this woman was trying to curse me and my friend. This happened about two days ago and for the moment I have no reports of any unnatural beards sprouting or any ghastly events taking place, so for the mean time I’ll adopt a skeptical view on things and just assume this woman was merely speaking gibberish and a little senile perhaps. After all am I not getting a little bit old to believe in this kind of stuff?

A Spot Of Vintage & Jane Eyre

I do hope everybody had a swell weekend! Mine was delightful, perhaps a little bit shorter then usual, but still delightful. Saturday was spent with the lovely Sinead strolling down Queen street for lunch at possibly the best Indian Restaurant I am yet to come across in my life, Little India.

After lunch we continued our stroll into Chinatown, stopping by Black Market Vintage on the way, where I found a wonderful brightly coloured floral skirt just in time for the start of Spring and Sinead found a funky dress with a velvet top and tartan patterned skirt that reminds me of something that might have been worn to a prom in the 80's.

On Sunday we decided we were in the mood to watch something terribly romantic, so we headed to Varsity theatres to see the newest adaptation of Jane Eyre which stars Mia Wasikowska- it was truly a very lovely film, one day I must get around to reading the book.

Blogs I Like - Part II

A lot of the hours in the day are made up for me from exploring through countless amounts of blogs in this big old blogosphere world. And now, in no particular order, join me for some quick insight as to three blogs that I think are pretty damn swell at the moment...

Lady Melbourne is a delightful blog written by the classy Phoebe Montague from (As the Title might suggest) one of my favourite cities in the world- Melbourne, Australia. Phoebe writes about Fashion, Beauty and all things Etiquette.

Le Smoking is a blog that a friend got me addicted to about 2 years ago now. It is run by an artist from New York who compiles beautiful and artistic photographs of people smoking from all different sources. Very Nice to look at.

Need Help Dressing is wonderful blog written by the ever stylish Elsa Billgren who writes for Swedish Elle Magazine. It follows Elsa through her whimsical adventures of life in Stockholm and all her beautiful, mostly vintage, cloths.

Annie Leibovitz Is The Cat's Pajamas

I remember being at a friends house once in Highschool and looking through her mother's bookshelf of wonderful gems, one of these such gems being a massive book of photographs from Rolling Stone Magazine over the years, which I instantly fell in love with.

Whist flicking though the pages I noticed that a lot of the photo's I took a particular liking to were by a lady named Annie Leibovitz- thus beginning my love affair with the work of the lovely Miss Leibovitz and a new secret desire to one day be a photographer.

Her photo's are magic!

Technicolour Dreams

Don't you just love the look of films in Technicolour! It makes everything look so vibrant and so much more theatrical, almost bordering on animated even.

I wish everyday looked like this, then everyone would be happy- how could you not be happy with a life in Technicolour?

The Village & The Park

Being our last full day in New York, we decided that Tuesday should be spent strolling from one end of the island to the other (Well not quite, but still a LOT of walking). We started off in Alphabet City, through to Soho, Greenwich Village, Times Square, Central Park and finished off at a little student bar on Macdougal Street where we stayed until the wee hours of the morning.

While we were wandering through Central Park, we came across a very nice band from London playing in the Strawberry Fields section of the park across the road from John & Yoko's old apartment. They were called The Riff Raff and I believe they have a residency at Don Hills in New York now, so if your in town check them out, otherwise you can have a listen to them Here.

Nice way to spend a day in New York.
